NIGERIA: Russia to Partner with Country on Gas Development

NIGERIA: Demand for Liquefied Petroleum Gas Rise by 40%

The Russian Federation has shown interest to partner with Nigeria through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in order to develop Nigeria’s gas and power sector.

This Development Partnership Agreement was disclosed during a working visit by the Ambassador of Russia to Nigeria, Ambassador Alexey Shebarshin who visited the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mallam Mele Kyari.

The Russian Ambassador said that the visit was to consolidate on increase growth attained from the Russian- Africa summit adding that the country embassy in Nigeria is fully ready to support bilateral trade agreement between the two countries on oil and gas sector and also most importantly they are concerned to contribute on Nigeria power sector.

Ambassador Shebarshin noted that Lukoil, a Russian based oil and gas company has signed a memorandum of understanding with NNPC with purpose on rehabilitating Nigeria refineries. He added that he personally would try all possible to ensure the success of the project.

In his statement, the NNPC Group Managing Director used the medium to appreciate the Russian ambassador and gave a guarantee that the NNPC will stay obligated to the agreement between the two countries and ensure that both countries achieve their aims from the bilateral corporation.

Mallam Kyari further said that NNPC is ready to develop Nigeria’s economy at all costs by ensuring proper communication channels with the Russian companies in Nigeria.
