International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) has enjoyed official recognition for its efforts channeled to digital agriculture. Stakeholders of agriculture including the permanent secretary and managers of agricultural development programs (ADPs), also the commissioner of agriculture continued to sing songs of praises to the organization.
During the seminar with the theme “Presentation of Digital Tools: Disruptive innovation in Cassava and Maize Farming System”, the Commissioner for Agriculture representing Ekiti State, Mr. Folorunso Olabode commends the institution (IITA), he appreciated the African Cassava Agronomy Initiative (ACAI) project for providing digital strategies to encounter agricultural problems in Nigeria.
Mr. Folorunso Olabode added that the Ekiti State Government had included agricultural development through digital tools and equipment in its government agenda
The Commissioner for Agriculture in Ekiti State also in his words said the Government in the state is currently in anticipation of agricultural digitalization and will ensure the proper extension of digital agriculture to raise and support agriculture to ameliorate unproductive agricultural systems in the state.
According to him in his speech, the Director for Development and Delivery (IITA), Dr. Alfred Dixon who urge the stakeholders of agriculture to work together on productive usage of digital equipment innovated by the institution to renovate agricultural system in Nigeria.
Moreover, he stated that the gathering was to spread the innovative work on digital equipment and tools which has taken about half a decade to be innovated by the institution’s Cassava Management Project and African Cassava Agronomy Initiative (ACAI).
