The African Development Bank (AFDB) has strongly influenced and aided the growth and development of African countries.
The President of the Institution (AFDB), Mr. Akinwumi Adesina made this known in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) summit held in Abuja. Mr. Adesina spoke at the program that the AFDB has been able to ignite Africa, support Africa, develop Africa, feed Africa, renew Africa, restore Africa and improve the standard of living for people in Africa.
The President of the Bank said that in the past four years the Development Bank has supported 18 million people of Africa for reliable electricity and 141 million Africans have also been helped to access agricultural technologies for food security.
Furthermore, he added that 101 million people of African countries have benefited improved transport systems, 13 million people have been adequately financed, and 60 million people have been assisted to access quality water and sanitation.
Mr. Adesina added that the Bank has been very supportive in extremely important times and areas that matter most. He said;
“We are there always at the right time, with the right product, for the right needs of the countries.
The AFDB President also cited the help to Nigeria, where the Development Bank support to donate $600 million of budget support to assist the country get out of the recent period of reduced economic activity and also $500 million to create Development Bank of Nigeria.
